TMRA chili cook off was a Blast in more ways than one.
Fun, Friends, Great Food, Cold temps, and lots of Wind.
Friday was really nice weather basically. It was warm but little windy.
Had Lots of Good Fried Catfish, Hushpuppies, beans, coleslaw and French fries.
mmmmmmm mouth is watering just thinking about it all.
Of course there was the friendly game of Poker and another group playing a different card game not sure what it is called. But they sure get loud and have lots of fun. Had a major cold front blow in around midnight with lots of Wind. Rain came in around 4:30am just enough to make the dirt stick to everything.
Most of Sat. was cold and windy but still had a good time. Had several chili cookers. Lady won 1st place her first name was Fran. Tom won 2nd. Ronnie cooked chili for the club and it was really good but sadly he didn't win. He used his Dad's recipe it was called "Second Place Chili" Thanks to Ronnie for cooking for us. Cake auction went over really good and several of the winners donated their cakes back for us to eat.
It was a Wonderful Surprise Tom Webb came down Sat. for part of the day. He stayed as long as he could stand the cold and wind. Nice to get to visit with him.
Ronny, Charley, Ed & guest, Eddy Ray, Mario, Bobby, Tom & Tommy and Mike and me camped out. ( hope i didn't miss anyone) Jan & Bob drove down for the day (Sat.)
Had some Rides come out of San Angelo for Chili. I think Boris may have road with them in the past. They wanted to send their Hello's to her.
Hobo stew was prepared by Ed & Eddie Ray and it was sooo good.
Thanks to everyone for pitching in. Had cakes from Auction and Tom made an apple cobbler in his Dutch Oven....oh sooooooo good. Sound like Mr. Food now.
Card games Sat. night too but didn't seem as boisterous as usual. Think everyone was too full and mellow. Wind did finally calm down but it dropped down to freezing Sat. night. We know cause we left a water bottle out and it was pretty frozen. Thank goodness for electricity and heaters. People started breaking camp and heading out early. I think Tom & Tommy and Mike & I were the last to leave. We were in no hurry and wanted to wait till it got warmer. Sure was a windy ride home though. We took a bypass and went towards Colorado City and turn back off toward Forsan just to enjoy a different ride home. We didn't get home till after 4.
There's nothing like a Hot Shower to make you Glade to be Home.
