T-Twisters Aug 2011 newsletter
Quote of the day: “Imagine the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured…but not everyone must prove they are a citizen!”
We need all members to try to make the August general meeting. There are several things that need to be discussed and decided on. One is Ruidoso, another is the upcoming Chili cook off. Please try to be there! : ************************************************************
I’m sitting here at the computer, looking out the window with one eye, praying that the clouds go ahead and gather up. We need rain so desperately here in Odessa. Since September of 2010, here at my house I’ve had 0.15”, and I know everyone that reads this newsletter is in the same boat. The weather channel is saying we won’t get much rain, maybe ½ to 1.0 inch, but every single drop helps. I thank God right now for every drop He lets fall!
(well, we didn’t get ANY rain at my house, but others did, and I’m happy for them!!)
I made a flying trip to Woodward, Oklahoma at the end of June, to go to my family reunion. My Mom’s family (John Moses Prewett) started the reunion at Boiling Springs Park before I was born! I remember the crowd of relatives that came year after year. The park has a swimming pool that all us kids hung out at. We were talking this year about how, all those years ago, the pool rented swimsuits to those of us that didn’t bring one! In today’s world, that’s a scary thought!
I left there and went to SE Colorado, and spent several days with my sister. They’re as dry there as we are! We packed up and took off for Lincoln Nebraska, to visit the “Germans From Russia” museum. If you’re into genealogy and are German from Russia, that’s the place to go!
Then we went to Pioneer Village in…Minden(?) Nebraska, a big place with 26 building full of antiques of all shapes and kinds…from dolls, clothes, motorcycles, cars, on and on and on! After 10 days, I made it home, safe and sound, and believe it or not, I was kinda glad to see Al again!!
Eddie Ray and Wilma came over a couple of weekends ago, and we rode to Andrews for ice cream. It was so hot on the ride over, and it just didn’t seem to want to get any cooler even after the sun went down. After ice cream, we circled around by way of the Black Gold Rally in Goldsmith, just to check things out, and it looked like things was in full swing…many bikes, tents and campers! Even two helicopters! But, oh my gosh, was the dirt flying! There was just a haze of dirt hanging in the air from all the activity. It would have been a great weekend for a little rain to settle things down! From there, we went to Kent Kwik for the obligatory ice cream (again???) at the end of the ride. Nice ride!
We have several Club members that are in great need of prayer for serious health issues. I’m not going to name many, most wish to remain anonymous, but the real need is still there. One person I will name is Nola’s Mom, who has stage 4 cancer, and isn’t doing well at all. Remember, with God, all things are possible! God has promised to hear and answer out prayers, but He doesn’t promise that the answer will be what we want it to be. We just have to remember that His will is perfect in all things. Please join together in silent prayer for His will to be done in the lives of people we all know and love.

Well, no matter how badly I want this summer to stick around, I guess it’s that time again. You know, yellow school buses making endless stops right in front of you; kids running down the streets, darting out in front of you to get to the bus stop on time…(‘cause everyone knows how cranky those ole bus drivers can be!!) Please watch out for them, ‘cause they ain’t gonna be watching for you!
Happy birthday to everyone that has a birthday in August!! I sent the Club briefcase home with Ed today, cause Al and I will be out of town…again! And guess where the birthday information is?? You got it…in the briefcase!! I hope each one of you has a wonderful day, full of family and friends, and cake and ice cream and presents and…!
Remember, we have a “Hat Ride” on Aug. 20. Meet at Stripes at 5:00pm and add your idea to the hat. Who knows, your choice for a dinner destination might be the winner! So everyone come, and lets eat! Don’t forget to MARK YOUR CALENDER!!
