Sept. 2014 T-Twister Newsletter
This has been a humdinger of a month for me. I went back to work the last week of July in a new position, driver trainer/safety officer. AND, since we are 48 drivers short right now, on top of my new duties, I still drive a bus. Last week alone I put in over 60 hours...oil field hours, but NOT oil field money!!
The newsletter has snuck up on me this month. I don't know who all has been riding, but I know that Tracie and Smurf, Tracey and Terry, Derrell and Brenda, Pete and Janice, and Patty Wheelhouse have made a couple of trips out. They are coming home from Fredricksburg today, I believe. From the pictures on facebook, they must have had a really good time! Be safe coming home!!
The Club will be going to Harper this month instead of Ruidoso. New roads and new scenery is this year’s goal. Be sure to make this month’s general meeting to finalize plans for the trip. Some of you will be camping at Tom and Tommye's place, while others will be in a campground not far from there. And, darn it, I won't make this camping trip either, because of my job. I was really looking forward to it, spending time with everyone and enjoying the new roads, but...there's always next year!!
The T-Twister Chili cookoff is just around the corner. Ed is going to be our cook this year, and he has promised to cook C.A. chili!! This was a special request from a few Club members. We will also have a bean cookoff, as well as a cake auction. Work on getting your Raffle tickets sold. If the winner is present, they will receive their money in cash; if not present they will be mailed a VISA card. If you can get some silent auction items, we sure do need them.
The Toys for Tots Ride will be different this year. It's going to be called "Toy Drop Off" and that’s just the start of the changes. Come to the meeting to check it out.

One day, while strolling down the boardwalk, John bumped into an old friend of his, Rob, from high school. “You look great John, how do you stay looking so young? Why you must be 60 already but you don’t look a day over 40!” Rob exclaimed.
“I feel like I’m 40 too!” replied John.
“That’s incredible” exclaimed Rob, “Does it run in the family? How old was your dad when he passed?”
“Did I say he was dead?” asked John. “He’s 81 and is more active then ever. He just joined the neighborhood basketball team!” responded John.
“Whoa! Well how old was your Grandfather when he died?”
“Did I say he died” asked John. Rob was amazed. “He just had his 105th birthday and plays golf and goes swimming each day! He’s actually getting married this week!”
“Getting married?!” Rob asked. If he’s 105, why on earth does he want to get married?!
John looked at Rob and replied, “Did I say he wanted to?”

If you haven’t gotten the crosses you've ordered, they are in and can be picked up at the next general meeting.
Officer elections are coming up. We will be voting for VP, Treasurer, RC 1. Be thinking about who you would want in these offices.
Don't forget the general meeting on September 6th, 10:30 at Casa Lopez in Midland.
Officers meeting is September 23 at Polo's in West Odessa, 7:00pm. Everyone is welcome to come.
OK, guys, that's it for this month.
Ride safe and keep the shiny side up!
