May 2013 T-Twister Newsletter
Good Monday morning, T-Twisters! It's a beautiful morning, the sun is shining, the birds are singing, and a light breeze is blowing. Al and I have been sitting out on the front porch enjoying a cup of coffee, and just talking.
Some of you know that Al had another heart attack on the 19th of Aptil. He spent almost 4 days in CCU, and the Dr. had to implant another stent...the one they put in 2 months ago was plugged up with blood clots. So we came home with a stronger blood thinner this time, and an external defiberalator.
I know that we aren't the only people to go through this, but to us, it's a brand new experience. He's pretty...scared?...nervous? He doesn't know how to act, how to feel, what to do. Me? I'm terrified. But I remind myself that God doesn't promise any of us a "tomorrow". All we have for sure is today. And today I will love my husband, even when he's grouchy, and I will thank God for the 42 years we've had together. And I will continue to plan for tomorrow, because if God chooses to give us that gift, I will use it to the fullest. God willing we will still make a few campouts this summer (Camp Wood!!!) but maybe not too far away.
And I want to thank my Twisted Family for their support and love. We might not have the "blood" connection, but we have a "heart" connection, and that's the strongest kind of all. I love you all.
On Monday the 21st I was on my way to the hospital, they were going to implant the stent that morning, when I was rear-ended while stopped at a red light. The long line of cars in front of me had began moving when the light turned green, all except the big pick-up in front of me. He sat there and sat there (texting??) and just when I started to lay down on my horn, I was hit from behind. Apparently he had started moving because I did not hit him, and he never knew what he caused... the lady that hit me said she saw that the light was green so she just kept coming. And all I could think was "I've got to get to the hospital...I've got to get to the hospital" Thank God, I am fine, a couple of bruises and really sore neck and shoulders, but OK.
So, needless to say, I've been out of the loop. I can only hope that some of us have been riding and enjoying the beautiful spring days we've had. I, for one, am heartily tired of the winter days that just keep creeping back to us, and it looks as tho we have another couple of colder days just ahead of us...again!! But the bikes are out in full force! Riding season is here...please be carefull!!
Smurf brought his new bike to the last meeting and it is a beauty! I am so happy for him to finally get his dream bike. It's an '07 Kobalt Blue Harley Ultra Classic Electraglide. Congratulations, again, to them!
The next general meeting is at Casa Lopez, May 4th at 10:00. I know it's a Sautrday, and we like to sleep late, but it's only once a month. If I can crawl out early on a Saturday, so can you!! After all, it's only once a month!!
Thanks for the following story, Pete!
A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package. What food might this contain?" the mouse wondered - - - he was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.
Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning : There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!" The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, "Mr.Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it."The mouse turned to the pig and told him, "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!" The pig sympathized, but said, "I am so very sorry, Mr. Mouse, but there is nothing I can do about it but pray. Be assured you are in my prayers." The mouse turned to the cow and said, "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!" The cow said, "Wow, Mr. Mouse. I'm sorry for you, but it's no skin off my nose."
So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer's mousetrap . . . alone. That very night a sound was heard throughout the house -- like the sound of a mousetrap catching its prey. The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught. The snake bit the farmer's wife. The farmer rushed her to the hospital, and she returned home with a fever. Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup's main ingredient. But his wife's sickness continued, so friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock.
To feed them, the farmer butchered the pig. The farmer's wife did not get well; she died. So many people came for her funeral, the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them. The mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness. So, the next time you hear someone is facing a problem and think it doesn't concern you, remember ---- when one of us is threatened, we are all at risk. We are all involved in this journey called life.
We must keep an eye out for one another and make an extra effort to encourage one another. EACH OF US IS A VITAL THREAD IN ANOTHER PERSON'S TAPESTRY; OUR LIVES ARE WOVEN TOGETHER FOR A REASON.
One of the best things to hold onto in this world is...a FRIEND!!!

That's it for this month! Ride safe and keep the shiny side up!
Mary
