March 2013 T-Twister Newsletter

The general meeting this month will be Friday March 1st, at Water Valley!!
If you don't already know, guess who's hosting the TMRA Area D Chili cook-off on March 1-3 of this year? Yep, it's us, the Terrific T-Twisters! That means the Terribly Talented Ladies of the Club needs, once again, to dust off their ole baking dishes and plan on whipping up some of the cakes, cookies and brownies we're famous for! Donations are needed from one and all to make this event a successful one. Our Club Chili cook for this event is gonna be Tracey. YOU GO GIRL!!
I was talking to one of the teachers at OHS the other day, and she told me she lives be the Rule of the Six P's. I asked her what in the world she was talking about, and she told me..."Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance."
WOW! That's good...no, that's GREAT!! We have our OWN Chili cookoff to plan for, and if we want it to be a GREAT one, we need to start preparing NOW! We need to start gathering up items for the silent auction, getting donations from businesses and gathering up family recipes for time honored, prize winning goodies!! Remember the Six P's!!
I know riding season is on top of us. I've seen more and more bikes out, even on days I thought were a little "too much" for riding. And that brought to mind something I had read in a magazine recently...
On one cold, blustery early spring day, I overheard a conversation in a store: "Man, it's way too bad for anyone to be riding a motorcycle today!" to which the second person replied, "Dude, there are no bad days for riding a motorcycle! It's just that some days are better than others!" WOW! That's what I call motorcycle spirit!

March 1 General meeting Water Valley
March 1-3 TMRA Area "D" Chili Cookoff at Water Valley.
March19 Officers meeting place TBA
March 22-23 is this years date for the Muleshoe Road Riders Rally.
March 15-17 Thunder on the Colorado Rally in Smithville 512-237-2313

I read this the other day, and, while I know we are all aware of this fact, it couldn't hurt to be reminded of it.
When you’re riding at night, flash your brake light often when stopped. It's more noticeable than a steady light.
There are no guarantees that others see you. Never count on eye contact as a sign that a driver will yield. Too often, a driver looks right at a motorcyclist and still fails to see him or her. The only eyes that you can count on are your own. If a car can enter your path, assume that it will. Good riders are always looking for trouble, not to get into it, but to stay out of it..
"Your jacket, pants, and helmet ARE YOUR BRAKES in a motorcycle accident." Don’t skimp on proper safety gear.
TEE-HEE!!
Once upon a time there was a frog who lived in a lake all by himself. He had been given special powers by a local witch. One day he finally ventured out of the lake to get his first glimpse of the world outside. The first thing he saw was a bear chasing a rabbit and so he called out to them and asked them to stop. Then he said to them: "I am a magical frog and since you are the first two animals I have ever seen, I am going to grant you both three wishes. You will each take turns using them and you have to use them now." The bear (being greedy) went first. I would like for every bear in this forest to be female except for me." A magical sound and it was done. Then the rabbit. "I would like a helmet." This confused both the frog and the bear, but after a magical sound there was a helmet. It was the bear's turn again. "I would like for every bear in the neighboring forest to be female." A magical sound and it was done. The rabbit went again. "I would like a motorcycle." Both the frog and the bear wondered why the rabbit didn't just ask for a lot of money with which he could buy himself a motorcycle, but after a magical sound there was a motorcycle. The bear took his last wish. "I would like for all the bears in the world to be female except for me." A magical sound and it was done. The rabbit then put on his helmet, started up the motorcycle, and said "I wish the bear was gay" and took off like lightining.
And finally...an update on Al. We found out that he has had a heart attack sometime in the past year. This was severe enought to damage 25-30% of his heart. I asked the cardiologist if it was possible to have this kind of heart attack and NOT KNOW IT (Al had no idea) and he said it happens all the time. That's why heart disease is called the "silent killer". He has one artery that is 100% blocked, and another that was 90% blocked until they put in a stent. The blocked artery has been blocked for quite some time, and is so solid that the Dr. couldn't even get a wire through it. BUT... Praise God, the heart has grown veins around the blockage and basically corrected itself. He only has 6 radiation treatments left, then 4-5 chemo treatments after that. THEN, about 4-5 weeks later, all the scans will be repeated to see if they've made any progress against the cancer. Thank you for the prayers, he has needed, and still needs, every one of them.
Remember that Daylight savings time starts on the 10th of March...we'll turn the clocks FORWARD, and basically lose an hour of sleep that night, but we get out long afternoons back!

And most important of all, remember to celebrate God's wonderful love for us on the 31st of March. Easter is the celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jesus CHOSE to come to earth to be born a man. He knew before He came that He would die the most horrible death that the Romans could devise. But He knew also that His Father, God Almighty, would bring Him back to life! Because of this, we, (sinful humans) have a way to spend death's eternity in the wonders of Heaven, instead of the horrors of Hell that we all so richly deserve.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish, but have, everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world, through Him, might be saved." John 3:16-17

Ride safe and keep the shiny side up!
Mary T.
