T-Twisters April 2010 Newsletter
I know a lady that has a nice little bike for sale. I think most of you know Nina Rose and her yellow ’94 750 Honda Magna …she’s ready to retire from riding and is asking $3,000 for the Magna. The bike has 54,000 miles, and she said there are lots of extras to go along with it. If you’re interested, or know anyone looking for a great deal, here’s your chance. Her phone number is 325-949-5055.
The spring Chili cook off is another one for the books. We had a good number of Twisters turnout for the event. Those attending were: Al and Mary, Ed and Jr., Eddie, Mario, Bobby Hunt, Jan and Bob, Randy, Charlie and Shirley, Johnny, Mike and Mel, Richard, Dennis, Tom and Tommye, and Bo. As always, if you were there and I didn’t name you, my apologies! Ya’ll know I’ve got C.R.S.!!
Our very own Tom Jones won 1st place in the Chili cook off. I know Ed took 7th place, with Randy and Tommye placing, but I can’t remember where. (Remember the CRS thing?). Mr. Ed took 1st in the bean category and I was the proud winner of the 50/50 drawing! I told everyone not to tell Al, he had stepped out for a minute, but someone ratted on me!! So, with me being the wonderful wife that I am, I shared my winnings with him. What can I say? He had just put a new battery on my bike for me to make the ride!
Al and I rode up on Saturday, in the cold and mist. It wasn’t too bad, tho, and I did enjoy riding again. By the time we got home Saturday evening, I was tired. I need to start putting it in the wind a little more often, get my riding legs back.
So, three weeks later, what did we do? Some co-workers of Al’s decided to ride to Roswell on Saturday and come home Sunday. Remember how windy it was the last Saturday of March? Yeah, so do I!! That was the next ride for me. We left Odessa about 9:30, and I think that was about the time God turned the fan on high! It made for an interesting ride, for me, anyway! It’s been many years since I’ve rode with wind that high. But we made it OK, although I was beat. Then, on Sunday we headed home with MUCH nicer weather! Everything goes great until we stopped in Carlsbad to gas, and my bike wouldn’t start. Al messed with it, finally jumped it off and we went to Denny’s to eat. Came out to get going again, and, my bike wouldn’t start. (Remember the new battery three weeks earlier?) After messing with it for a while, he runs to Wally World and gets a new battery. So he installs it, and…my bike wouldn’t start! So now I get another new experience, a push start. We hightail it to Jal, where we stopped again for gas, and …you guessed it, my bike wouldn’t start!! So, after another push start, we head for Odessa and make it home just before dark. Needless to say, Al was a little frustrated, as those of you that know him, can guess! He’s out in the shop right now tinkering with it; I know he’ll get my “baby” running again, as good as new!
Ok, we are going to start having dinner runs again. The weather is starting to turn nice again, days are longer, so… On the last Friday in April we are going to meet at Stripes across the street from Warfield at 7:00. At 7:15 sharp, it’s kickstands up, and off to Mi Piachi’s in Odessa. The restaurant is in the shopping center on the SW corner of East University and Grandview, behind the Jewelry store that’s there. Let’s start this dinner run season off with a good attendance. Eating together is nice, but the fellowship is the best. MARK IT ON YOUR CALENDER!!!!!

Happy Birthday to Mr. Ed Dailing, on the 18th of this month!!
Johnny Davis has recently had surgery that was badly needed. Shirley said he is recovering well, it’s just going to take time to regain his strength and heal completely. Our prayers are with Johnny and Tammy.
I hope all of you take time out this Sunday to attend Church, and thank God for loving us enough to send His Son, Jesus to die for our sins. Celebrate Easter this year with God, not just eggs and bunnies.
Love you all. Ride safe and keep the shiny side up!
