Happy Independance Day to All of You!!!

Freedom Isn’t Free
I watched the flag pass by one day, it fluttered in the breeze.
A soldier stood, saluted it, and then he stood at ease
I looked at him in uniform, so young, so tall, so proud,
With hair cut square and eyes alert, he'd stand out in any crowd.
I thought how many men like him had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil? How many mothers tears?
How How many pilots planes shot down? A soldier in a cell.
Of foxholes turned to cold, dark graves, another day in hell.
I heard the sound of “Taps” one night, when everything was still.
I listened to the bugler play and felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times that song had meant "Amen".
When a flag had draped the coffin of a brother or a friend.
I thought of all the children, of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands with interrupted lives.
I thought about a graveyard at the bottom of the sea,
Of unmarked graves in Arlington...No, FREEDOM ISN'T FREE!!

I was just sitting here, thinking, (Al says that’s a dangerous thing for me to do). Seem as though I left out a mention of an upcoming holiday in the last newsletter, and for that I seriously apologize! I can’t believe I missed wishing all you great guys a Happy Father’s day!! So here it is, a little late, but the wish is just the same. I hope you Father's Day was happy, full of family and friends. Hopefully a late wish is better than no wish at all!!
A lot of us are going on vacations of one sort or another. Tis the season, all right. Jan and Bob are vacationing. They left here and went to the Back to Ballinger campout, and from there, they were gonna follow the wind. Jan said she left the plans completely up to Bob this time, and she was kinda excited about not knowing for sure where they were headed. She was hoping they could stretch it into three weeks, but she wasn’t sure.
I haven’t heard from anyone that went to Ballinger, so I don’t know who all went. I did hear that it was HOT HOT HOT!! Mario said that Ponchito had a hard time of it, but he was OK.
If the Good Lord’s willing, Al and I are going to head north the middle of July. We’ve both wanted to see Niagara Falls, so that’s our end destination. On the way up, I want to stop in Ohio and go cemetery hopping. I’ve found the cemeteries where my great-great-great great grandparents are buried. I love genealogy, so that’s exciting to me. Al thinks it’s goofy, but so what? Since we’re gonna be in the neighborhood, we’re gonna stop.
And we’re not riding. Call us sissies if you want to, we’re going to pull the Kwik Kamp with my car and ride in comfort. By comfort, I mean with an A/C!!!
Dennis and Denise will be leaving on June 26th, heading out to the northern rim of the Grand Canyon. From there, they’re gonna head up into Southern Utah, and then turn south. I’ve been up in that country and it sure is pretty. They plan on being home July 5th. Dennis, send me a report!!
The July general meeting will NOT be at Warfield. Eddie Ray has invited us into his home again, for BBQ and an evening of visiting. Eddie’s address is 10905 ECR 109 and if you don’t know where that is, call him for directions at 432-634-6187. When I asked him what time he wanted us there, he said 5:00pm sounded good. If you’d like to help out with the food, again, call him to see what he needs.
We only have one birthday this month that I’m aware of, and that’s Tynisa Ellis. Congratulations, girl, and hope it was a great day for you!!
